Juwel RIO 450 setup example: Today we want to show you a diary of a user. Alex Markus kindly gave us his Pictures and his steps to Setting up an aquarium made available. The article will therefore be constantly expanding and we can all participate in how the pool is developing. Alex bought a Rio 450 Led, which is already a decent size. Here you have not only in terms of planting, but also in things trimming lots of leeway. We don't know which fish will move in here later. First is the actual setup.
Juwel RIO 450 LED with SBX cabinet in white
Before we get to the setup, maybe a word about the aquarium. The Juwel Rio is a real classic among aquariums, which is also available in various other sizes. Here Alex has already done an aquascaping project with a 180 liter pool.
- All inclusive aquarium made in Germany
- Including LED lighting MultiLux LED
- Including Bioflow filter system with high-quality filter media and a whisper-quiet pump
- Including AquaHeat adjustable heater
- Including matching base cabinet in SBX design
With this 450 liter aquarium, there are of course completely different options available. This combination is currently also available in different colors such as black, white or dark wood. The price for a set is around €899. Normally, an internal filter is also included. But as you can see in the pictures, Alex left it in. (Perhaps he will tell us a little more about the technology of the aquarium in the next part). Many make this out and opt for an external filter.
He himself says that he has fulfilled a big dream with this pool and now has the opportunity to set it up in his own apartment. Here, however, you should always make sure that you talk to the landlord about such an aquarium on the one hand Insurance and on the other hand should also Static checked .
gravel and stones
When it comes to gravel, Alex uses a grain size of 2 to 3 mm and the color black. 90 kg is employed of gravel here. A decent overall weight comes together later. He also bought about 25 kg of Landscape stones. 2 large Rockwood roots further embellish its landscape. As you can see in the pictures, the subsoil and the stones were laid out in a kind of terrace. Much more sand and gravel was filled in, especially at the back. Smit manages to get Alex a nice depth effect. He later made some changes, especially on the right side. Before the plants were used, the basin was already filled with some water.
The background was covered with a black film. This also creates a better look and depth effect.
Plants in the RIO 450
We also really liked the current planting. Here Alex uses the following plants:
- Ludwigia sp. super red
- Limnopholia sessiliflora—Small Ambulia
- Ceratopteris thalictroides – Sumatra Fern
- Alternanthera reineckii – parrot leaf
- Bacopa lonicera - Bacopa
- Lysimachia aurea – Pennywort
- Micranthemum Monte Carlo - Water Pepper
- Rotala sp. Gia Lai
As you can see, there are already some plants here. There is quite a bit of space in a 450 liter aquarium. As you can see in the pictures, the pool is already looking great and it will be interesting to see how it is in terms of things Furniture, retract and stocking goes on.
We are particularly excited about the technology that Alex is using here. It is also always interesting what is done in terms of fertilization and the like, because very often you have to struggle with algae, especially in the running-in phase.
