If it is well supplied with nutrients, then it glows light green. In addition, their tips are then rich green. If there is an iron deficiency, this can be quickly identified by the rather cloudy tips of the fine-feathered leaves.

The Mayaca Fluviatilis - River Mossweed can grow up to 30 cm. I growth in width can be neglected. Only a few centimeters are managed here. In order to get them denser, the prunings are used again and again. But more on that below. As always, pictures say more than a thousand words.

Keeping and care of the Mayaca Fluviatilis - river mosswort

Let's start with the location in the aquarium. Due to its height of up to 30cm, it should be planted in the center area. In matters Aquarium lighting you should pay attention to sufficient light here. Shading should be avoided. In comparison to the Vallisneria, we would consider the need for light to be rather high here. Anyone who has created good lighting must also ensure that there is a sufficient supply of Co2, otherwise the hair-thin leaves will quickly fall off. In addition, of course, iron fertilizer must be given again and again. If you have taken all this into account, then this plant also grows quite quickly.

The PH value should be in the range of 6 - 7,5, although it is certainly better to use very acidic water. One also thinks here of the origin of the plant, which mainly comes from the black water areas of the tropics. Hardness values of 10 GH should not be exceeded either.

The best way to propagate them is to use top cuttings. Take the cut heads of the plant and put them back into the ground. This is how you manage to create increasingly dense areas.
