What were the highlights of the fair? What did we particularly like? And what not? Is it worth going to Aqua Fisch again in 2019 or not? Below you will find our opinion. We were also the first time at the Angel and Aquarium / Aquaristics Fair and therefore went there quite innocently. We brought many pictures and impressions with us.
How big is the aqua fish?
If you are coming to Friedrichshafen for the first time, then you should take some time Bodensee, to look at, because as is well known, the Zeppelin city is right on Lake Constance. However, the trade fair is a bit outside on a fairly large site. Parking spaces are also available in large numbers and the journey should be quite easy. who one press pass If you own it, you can even drive almost directly in front of the entrance.
We were rather disappointed with the exhibitor area itself and we would have imagined the fair to be much larger. One hall dealt with the topic of angling and fishing and the other hall was dedicated to aquaristics. So alone two halls were occupied. All other halls were not open. In the outdoor area, however, there was a good range of catering and snacks, so that nobody had to go hungry.
Perhaps a word about the visitors. We were there on Saturday and it's fair to say that there was a lot going on. Nevertheless, you could still admire everything without a very large crowd.
Which manufacturers and exhibitors were present?
We were particularly interested in the field of aquaristics and we didn't bother much about fishing. Basically all well-known manufacturers and breeders such as Juwel, Eheim, JBL, Sera, Tetra, Garnelio, …..
Many smaller companies such as Aqua Fresher and more were also on site. Since it is a trade fair, you could also make some bargains. But more on that later.
Lecture program / forum
There was a lot for the children to experience in the forum area and they could even set up their own “aquarium” there. Of course, these were only plastic containers, but the organizers still have to be commended. The children's program was very good, also in the area of the fishing fair. Here they could also try fly fishing. Lectures were also offered for adults. Aquascaping in particular was often on the agenda. Here you could see the world champion and others.
From fish to plants to technology
Be it the new jellyfish aquariums or the "silver bullet" against algae. Some new things could be admired at Aqua Fisch. There was also a lot to buy. Not just ornamental fish, either directly from dealers and internet dealers, but also in a stock exchange of various aquarium associations and clubs. Especially there you could also make good bargains.
There was also a lot to discover in the area of aquatic plants. Here you could also get quite attractive trade fair prices, although you usually only feel the advantage in larger quantities, since there were certain volume discounts.
In our opinion, there were more savings with the technology. Be it the new Nano Aquarium or larger aquariums, some of them were reduced by a few percent. For example, the Kölle Zoo had 20 percent off everything.
But there were also big discounts at Juwel and others like JBL.
What's new in 2018?
Here we were a little disappointed because basically you could discover little new. Quite a lot was shown in the field of LED lighting and the chemical additives and agents continue to grow. In addition, there are some new things in terms of design and luxury aquariums, especially from Fluval. Here one relies on unusual forms.
In the field of technology, there were some new devices such as a feeder from JBL, which can be equipped with whole cans.
There was also a lot to admire in the jellyfish aquarium area.
Some highlights were also found in the area of marine aquaristics. There you could admire all kinds of corals and also the special technology for the saltwater pools.
Some nice rarities in terms of fighting fish could already be found. There was also a corresponding stock exchange. Especially the shrimp and crab area had a lot to offer. Ornamental fish were less available.
We noticed very positively that many exhibitors took enough time to give proper advice.
Our conclusion on the Aqua Fish
In conclusion, one can say that it is a real highlight for anyone who is in the process of building an aquarium or wants to acquire a new stock, because on the one hand there is quite a large selection and on the other hand the prices are okay and you save a lot can. However, if you don't need anything, you should consider making the trip to Friedrichshafen. Nevertheless, we have not regretted it and a day at the fair can be worthwhile.
